RSS - not for me!
Well, watched the presentation again and explored the sites they sent us too, but it still doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I'm not that into news that I'd be signing up to get regular feeds to my mail box (I don't even read the newspaper).
I can see how it would work for other people though, as it saves them going out and looking for what they want all the time. Where I work has a nifty "breaking news headlines" type thing on its intranet which saves you looking around for what's happening, but that's another story!

Flickr - and something new too
Looked at the flickr lesson again, and I must say I don't think I've been to flickr since the first time I did this course. Online photo sharing has moved on so much in more recent times. Everyone who's on facebook is sharing and tagging pictures which is really handy; people can see your holiday photos while you're still on holiday!
And now that I have a tablet I have discovered the art of making photo collages so that instead of uploading a bunch of photos to facebook, I can group them together and do cool stuff with it. Then you just upload the one collage.
One other cool thing I have discovered is historypin. Lot's of old photos on there (as well as new ones) and even what they call tours where they can superimpose a recent picture with an old picture of the same scene - the Beatles tour was a lot of fun.
So anyway, my time is up so I'll end it here.
Ciao
Okay, it's refresher time...
Yep, since it's been three years since I did this, thought it appropriate to do it again as a refresher (and maybe get all the way to the end this time around!). Our team is working through it as some people didn't do the Learning 2.0 program before, so it's a good opportunity for them to learn a few things and the rest of us to brush up on it again.
So, some lessons I may not contribute much but others I might have a bit to say - will see how it goes.
And so, away I go again, and if I'm really good I might even do Learning 2.1!

I'm baaaack! (better late than never)
Well, long overdue greetings to all in cyberland indeed. Got so caught up with work, holidays and Uni that I just got out of the habit of doing this. But I'm back, so I'll give it a go, see if all the tutorials still work, and see it through to the end. i know it's way too late to get a certificate or anything, but I am determined to finish it anyway. Who knows, it may even count as a few points on my ALIA PD (I heard it was so that's good.
So, here goes; break a leg and all that!

Answer boards
Oooeee, got through 2 topics in the one sitting! TV wasn't too hot tonight anyway.
Read the notes, went to the librarians answerboard wiki, and liked what I saw. Looked up a couple of questions, I love how everyone jumps in with an answer, as well as the librarians who are on the site. It is a little like the "list" I'm on with ALIA. I've signed up to a reader's advising list, which is really good. If someone has a query on something such as trying to find a book and they don't know what it's called, they post the plot, and usually someone out there has read it. Another example is looking for suggestions for contemporary science fiction authors for some of your clients. I really enjoy being part of this list, I find it may come in useful...someday, someone may ask me the same question.
The only problem with lists as opposed to answer boards, is that your inbox gets pretty full because every post gets sent to you!.
Anyway, for now, that's all folks!

Hmmmm....delicious!
Greetings again. Got in, did the tagging tutorial, had a look at the library examples. Signed up and now have the icons on my on my laptop, but I've gotta admit, haven't added any tags yet! (Well, not really) signed up with the LibraryThing, really enjoyed looking at that, even did my five books! (have I mentioned that in my last post, or was that all part of this topic...? Can't remember)
Anyway, once I've caught up I can maybe go back and investigate things more at my leisure. Problem is finding the time to do this, always too busy at work.
Until next time, ta ta!

Love ya Youtube!
Okay folks, have been really slack of late, but then I did got away for 3 weeks, but there you go...the price you pay for having a good time.
Have been playing with youtube a lot lately, some of my work buds like to look at music clips (Hi Tony and Wendy), and I kinda like using it for that, along with those funny animal clips, can't get enough of them.
Well (drum roll please), I am about to try to embed a clip in this blog....so here goes.
Well, did it work?
